344 Winchester Avenue (Science Park: US Repeating Arms site)
As a deeply involved developer in Science Park area and the Newhallville neighborhood, Winstanley Enterprises, purchased 344 Winchester Avenue, the home of former US Repeating Arms factory. In it's heyday, the factory and support services employed some 18,000 workers. As part of the redevelopment of Science Park and the Newhallville area, Winstanley has converted this old gun factory into a modern office building. The glass-fronted facade shows a bustling office center along a large portion of Science Park's western portion of Winchester avenue. The new 245,000 square feet office center houses a print shop and some Yale administrative offices, as well as, other suitable tenants. As part of the project, and to complement the adjacent developments in the southern portion of the Science Park area, new sidewalks, streetscape have been completed to enhance the envisioned pedestrian friendly environment. The project expands the city tax base and brings in more jobs to the neighborhood at an otherwise vacant site. It has been completed as of May 2010.
